Choosing the right kitchen chimney size is essential for maintaining proper airflow and keeping your kitchen smoke-free. A chimney that is too small may fail to capture all the smoke and grease, while an oversized chimney might consume more power than necessary. Measuring your kitchen space correctly ensures the chimney performs efficiently and complements your cooking area.

The first step is to measure the width of your cooktop or hob. Ideally, the chimney should be the same width or slightly larger than the cooktop so it can effectively capture smoke and fumes produced during cooking. Common chimney sizes include 60 cm and 90 cm, which suit most standard kitchen setups.

Another important factor is the suction capacity, usually measured in cubic meters per hour (m³/hr). For small to medium kitchens, a suction capacity of around 900–1200 m³/hr is typically sufficient. Larger kitchens or homes that involve heavy frying and grilling may require a higher suction capacity for better performance.

Installation height also plays a role in maintaining effective airflow. Experts generally recommend installing the chimney about 26–30 inches above the cooktop, which helps balance suction power and cooking convenience.
